POSITION: Director of Programming   
 
Under the direction of the Market Manager, is responsible for the production and
presentation of a programming format to ensure a saleable product in order for the
station to be a profitable operation, and to maintain and/or improve station's market
position.
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans, develops and schedules programming to include format, public
affairs, news, public service and special programming.
2. Hires, trains, motivates and schedules promotions program, and new
employees to insure a quality which will improve station's market position.
3. Monitors program logs prepared by the traffic department to insure
accuracy as it relates to changes in regulations.
4. Prepares and/or reviews and submits operating plans for programming,
news and promotion departments.
5. Collaborates with General Sales Manager/sales management to insure
that programming format provides the sales department with saleable product.
6. Maintains an awareness of all FCC Rules and Regulations, and federal
and state laws that relate to broadcasting. Collaborates with chief engineer to
insure technical requirements are met.
7. Provides direction to operations staff in personnel related matters to
include wage adjustments, performance appraisals, disciplinary action and safety
requirements.
8. Provides direction in the overall development and growth of staff
members. Identifies and coordinates, in cooperation with the Market Manager,
training and development activities.

10. Responsible for supervision and execution for all departmental operating
budgets relating to News, Programming and Promotions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Requires formal education in radio broadcasting obtained through college degree or
equivalent on the job training at commercial broadcast facility. Three to five years
experience in programming administration, with increased responsibility in general radio
operations with emphasis on programming.
