Governor McDonnell delivered remarks on Wednesday's opening day of the annual Governor's Transportation Conference. The Republican discussed the bipartisan progress being made in addressing the state's transportation challenges and said the Commonwealth can't keep kicking the can down the road with regards to resolving transportation funding issues. McDonnell previewed his transportation funding proposal for the upcoming General Assembly session. He says it will eliminate the need to transfer road construction funds to maintenance by 2019, and put at least $500 million a year in new funding into roads, bridges, transit and passenger rail.
