You're asked to be on the lookout for holiday scam artists. Virginia Attorney General Cuccinelli is offering advice regarding charity scams. The Republican says it's best to do lots of research like checking organization validity via the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance, and only give money to charities and businesses you can really trust. Cuccinelli's tips include resisting the urge to rush. He says if a charity is legitimate, they'll accept your donation anytime. He also advises never giving cash and if writing a check, to make it out to the charity. He says don't use a money transfer company to send funds to someone you have never met, or share your banking or credit card information. He also recommends being wary of charities contacting you out of the blue, especially any appeal looking like an invoice.
