The Leesburg Police department has released its 2013 annual report. It shows a 12 percent drop in serious crimes and eight fewer occurrences of violent crime. Calls for service and officer generated action increased 1.1 percent. More than 2,000 arrests were made and over 7,000 traffic tickets were issued. The report also shows a 13 percent increase in reportable traffic crashes with the number involving injury staying relatively the same. Distracted driving remained the major cause of crashes and Route 7 and Battlefield Parkway was the location with the most crashes.
