Kicking For A Cure: Local Kickboxing Studio Hosts Fundraiser For Breast Cancer Awareness

October 26, 2019

Ilovekickboxing.com in Chantilly announced their first annual Kick-A-Thon to support Bright Pink and breast cancer awareness.

On October 26th, the fitness kickboxing gym is joining the fight to end end Breast Cancer by hosting a fundraiser with a combined donation goals of over $10,000.

Participants will receive a sponsor form prior to the event, and their sponsors will pledge a per-kick amount (their recommendation is between $0.01 and $1) with the option to set a maximum donation amount.

We are training participants prior to the event in an effort to maximize their number of kicks during the challenge which will greatly contribute to the donation amount.

On the day of the event, participants will have 2 minutes to throw as many kicks as possible to raise money for the cause.

“Of our 500+ active members, I would estimate that more than 80% are women,” says studio manager Kelsey Willhite. “Breast cancer awareness is something that really hits home for us considering the high percentage of women who come through our doors every day. We want to help create a healthier world for our members, and that starts from the inside. Anything that we can do to create a healthier world, we’re going to do.”

Ilovekicboxing.com will also be selling Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirts at the event for $15, and all proceeds will also go to Bright Pink, an organization aimed at the education and prevention of breast and ovarian cancer. They are also accepting vendor applications, with requests sent to kwillhite@ilovekickboxing.com, and vendor fees will all be donated to Bright Pink as well.

“We are hoping to make this a community-wide event,” says Willhite. “Being that a majority of people have either been affected by breast cancer or know someone who has, this event has the potential to help those impacted across the community.”  This also creates an opportunity for people who may not be able to afford to donate. They will contribute by gathering sponsors so they can also make a difference in someone’s life that has been affected by this disease.

Ilovekickboxing in Chantilly is opening the doors for this event to non-members as well. Anyone interested in participating will be given a free 21 day temporary membership to the studio to help prepare them for the event, and to thank them for their participation. Inquiries can be made to the studio at 571-367-7642 or kwillhite@ilovekickboxing.com. To register for the event, go to http://member-site.net/?FE–PgghP .
