WVU Medicine East and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Campus will sponsor a virtual community mini-medical school program on cancer screenings and prevention.
With many people putting off annual preventive screenings during the COVID-19 pandemic, physicians from the WVU Cancer Institute Regional Cancer Center in Martinsburg will discuss the importance of annual screenings for colon, lung and breast cancer.
The seminar titled Cancer Prevention and Screenings will air on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. on the WVU Medicine East Facebook page. Sowmini Medavaram, M.D., Pooja Sahni, M.D., and Sanaz Soltani, M.D., all board certified hematologists/oncologists at WVU Medicine, will discuss various screenings for these types of cancer.
The virtual mini-medical school program is being offered free to the public as a community service of WVU Medicine and the WVU Health Sciences Center. Closed caption will be offered for the hearing impaired.
